Forget bulky steam sterilizers or handling large pots of boiling water for disinfection! These bags can be folded for compact storage, taking up minimal space, yet they are surprisingly spacious. For example, one bag can hold a breast shield, connector, valve, and a bottle with a cap or teat.

Medela’s sterilization bags use steam to kill bacteria quickly and easily, just like a steam sterilizer or bottle sterilizer disinfects breast pump parts and other accessories. As with all sterilization methods, some preparation is required. Rinse the items to be sterilized with cold, clean water, then wash them with warm soapy water and rinse again. Add water to the bag, place the parts inside, and seal the bag. Put the bag in the microwave and heat according to the instructions in the user manual (minimum three minutes). Once done, carefully pour out the water, remove the parts from the bag, and dry them with a clean cloth. Full instructions are provided on the product packaging.
