VeganSpice Up! General Tao sauce is mild soy sauce based Chinese-style sauce. Sauce is a combination of sweet, sour and savory flavors. Hoisin sauce gives an umami touch to the sauce. The most common way to prepare General Tao chicken is to pour the sauce on the deep fried chicken chunks. Heat up the the sauce and chicken and serve with rice or noodles. General Tao sauce can also be used as a wok-sauce, in soups or with rice and noodle dishes.
